evolve FAMILY RECOVERY

As you find that you and / or your family has been impacted by addiction or a substance use disorder, you may wonder, “What’s next? How do I help my loved one? Is it possible to help them?”

The answer is YES, but you will learn that it starts with you. Another person actually accepting help is out of your control, and Evolve will help you help yourself — increasing your opportunity to positively influence change in another person. This is where coaching can help! You will find education, awareness, how to communicate in a motivational way, and how to maintain connection with your loved one, even if today their choices do not support recovery.

Evolve addiction family recovery support

We learn how to stay connected with boundaries and positive communication. Evolve does not encourage “tough love”, waiting for our loved one to “hit rock bottom”, or “letting them go.” We use CRAFT principles and focus on meeting our loved one where they are at and creating a space where recovery is desired.

In the fight with addiction, we need to take care of ourselves. To fight for us. Addiction will take the family down too, if we let it. If your loved one is ever to recover, they’re going to need a healthy you to be there. You are worth fighting for!

Leanne Niemela LADC NCFRC

I am Leanne, and I want to welcome you to Evolve — where I serve and support individuals, spouses, siblings, parents, and families who have been impacted by loved ones’ addictions and/or substance use disorders. I am glad you are here!

I have a BS in Counseling with emphases on addiction, substance use disorder, and chemical dependency. I am a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) in the state of Minnesota and am Nationally Certified as a Family Recovery Coach (NCFRC) through The Addictions Academy. Evolve is a safe space where you can find support, validation, education, direction, and most of all — HOPE.

I have over 17 years of personal experience with a loved one’s addiction. When one person changes in a family system, the whole family system changes in one way or another. I can help you identify and create where this change can still be a positive direction for you and your family.

“I too, have been impacted by a loved one’s struggle with addiction. I too, have had to learn to help myself first… and that is what has made a difference in my life, regardless of the outcomes.”

— Leanne Niemela, BS Certified Family Recovery Coach

  • “I have been seeing Leanne for the past 7 months for coaching. I struggle to find the words that adequately explain how amazing she is and how much she has helped me and my family, and is still guiding us. Her experience, knowledge, compassion, and gentleness has helped me navigate through my spouse’s battle of addiction and the effects from it. Leanne’s knowledge of the CRAFT method and her own experience has taught me how I can help my loved one through the battle of addiction, and is different than anything I have ever learned as a healthcare worker. Leanne’s support and kindness has been an answer to my prayers for help through this trial. I would highly recommend her to anyone, anywhere. I don’t live in the same state, but am still able to do coaching remotely with her.”

  • “I wanted to share how thankful that I am for Evolve Family Recovery. I have a loved one who has struggled with addiction. It is important to me to do all I can to ensure my loved one has success. As a parent you have lots of questions. What can I do to help? Am I doing too much? Am I doing the right things? Leanne has provided me with excellent advice to answer those questions and many others. She has provided me guidance to take time to enjoy my loved one’s successes as they come. Also, to know we all have missteps and not to have expectations of perfection. More great advice from Leanne included to take care of myself too. Leanne has an incredible love for others and it shines through every time I talk to her. Her tools have not only helped me but my loved one. My loved one and I have gotten closer with Leanne’s advice. I feel great when I leave her office and very much inspired. I highly recommend Evolve Family Recovery!”

  • “I have just begun the Evolve family recovery process, and I am trying to understand addiction through this lens. The common AA/Alon way has been useful up to a point, but I felt this approach would better suite my loved one’s personality and may be the best chance of dealing with addiction in my life. As I take positive steps, I believe it will provide me with encouragement and hope in my situation.”
